GloMoSim: A Scalable Network Simulation Environment

چکیده
Large-scale hybrid networks that include wireless, wired, and satellite based communications are becoming common in both military and commercial situations. This paper describes a scalable simulation environment called GloMoSim (for Global Mobile Information System Simulator) that effectively utilizes parallel execution to reduce the simulation time of detailed high-fidelity models of large communication networks. The paper also presents a set of case studies that evaluate the performance of large wireless networks with thousands of nodes and compares the impact of different lower layer protocols on the performance of typical applications.

A Modular and Scalable Simulation Tool for Large Wireless Networks
This paper describes a modular and scalable simulation environment, called GloMoSim, to evaluate end-to-end performance of integrated wired and wireless networks. GloMoSim has been implemented on sequential and parallel computers and can be used to simulate networks with a large number of nodes. It is designed as a set of library modules, each of which simulates protocols within a specific laye...
متن کاملIntegrating Distributed Wireless Simulation Into Genesis Framework∗
The design and evaluation of ad-hoc wireless networks introduce several unique challenges not present in wired network environment. The most significant among them include the communication medium shared between potentially thousands of nodes, the mobility of the network nodes, and the unpredictable nature of the wireless channels with problems such as fading, obstacles and interference. That m...
متن کاملA Scalable Routing Scheme for Self-Organized Terminode Network
The focus of this paper is routing in a wide area mobile ad hoc network referred to as a Terminode Network. Our routing scheme is a combination of two protocols: Terminode Local Routing (TLR) and Terminode Remote Routing (TRR). TRR is used for remote destinations. It utilizes the location of a destination obtained by the source using location management or location tracking. TLR acts when the p...
متن کاملBiology-Inspired techniques for Self Organization in dynamic Networks Architecture of the Simulation Environment
This document describes the architectural design of the simulation environment for the BISON project. Given the different simulation requirements (in terms of scalability, network models, level of detail) needed by ad-hoc networks and overlay networks, we propose two different architectures. The simulation architecture for ad-hoc networks builds up on an existing packet-level simulator, namely ...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Routing Protocols For High Density Ad Hoc Networks based on Qos by GlomoSim Simulator
Ad hoc networks are characterized by multihop wireless connectivity, frequently changing network topology and the need for efficient dynamic routing protocols. We compare the performance of three routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks: Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) , Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing (AODV), location-aided routing(LAR1).The performance differentials are analyzed usi...
